The best way to restore suede leather in 2024 👜🧼
I recently picked up this vintage GUCCI purse. It was in pretty bad shape, but some elbow grease got it shining again!
Step By Step:
1) Brush the heck out of every inch of suede
2) Use the eraser on every inch of suede
3) Brush the eraser bits out
4) Shampoo! I used 2 tbsp of shampoo + 1/4 cup of distilled water
5) Rinse the shampoo
6) Let dry for 24+ hours
7) Brush every inch of suede again
8) Conditioner! Go outside, wear a mask, and spray
9) Let settle for 10 minutes
10) Brush every inch of suede with a horsehair brush
11) **Optional** Waterproof the suede. Again, go outside, wear a mask, and spray
12) Brush the suede again. It's a LOT of brushing!
13) Not filmed - I used the leather cream below on the handle straps
My favorite restoration so far has been a FOSSIL bag!

Step By Step:

I purchased this vintage Fossil Preston purse recently from a mom whose daughter had nearly destroyed it. It was in desperate need of a deep clean! And it took 4 rinses to get all that makeup out at least, I'm assuming it was makeup. Overall, the purse cleaned up great. Bonus: it's one of the nicest leathers I've worked on so far. It's a keeper!

What a beauty! This rare, vintage COACH Messenger 9100 is one of the nicest ones I have. The inside creed says it was handcrafted in Italy from the finest French calfskin. You are so right in your intro! Anything that can't be maintained, repaired or cleaned is trash that's guaranteed to age poorly. True luxury items age gracefully and they need to be able to be worked on for that.
Why don't you vacuum it before the soak?

What about vinegar and water?
I can't believe you actually scrubbed it with dish soap 😆 *slaps forehead* For dirt, wipe down leather with warm damp cloth, for touching up scuffs, leather polish, for softening leather conditioner, and finally protecting it with a layer of oil, coconut oil is probably the best natural way, but any leather oil, will waterproof it and keep it soft. Also some waxes are good for coating it. Practice makes perfect

I bought a filthy yellow canvas/ leather bag for 4.99 at a thrift store. Ms Shopsalot mentioned she threw hers in the washer! I figured I had nothing to lose so I put the settings at warm, threw in some Awsome and Tide and let her go! It was a miracle! I stuffed it with towels, leather treated the leather parts and Scotch Guarded the dickens out of it. It was pristine!

What I do to conditioned leather patent leather that is you don't want to try this on suede is use palmer's cocoa butter hand lotion and work it into the leather it absorbs pretty quickly repeat that process if need be I just massage it in with my fingers/hands then after the cocoa butter lotion soaks in I repeat the process with murray's beeswax it's actually a petroleum-based hair product but it works fantastic at conditioning and protecting patent leather

Dawn is AWESOME isn' it?. I do the same things to my bags but using the front loading washing machine. I use dawn in place of shampoo clarifier. Hair is squeaky clean. Anyway the bag looks alive again.....just awesome 😊...
